Parasites.

Question:
This morning Motzi's poop has like tiny cumber seed things in it. She hasn't had anything..So called vet and they think she may have tapeworm????? She has had a few parasites now. Anyone else have this happen. Looks like seeds from a pickle really small.

Answer:
Tapeworm is very common and very easy to treat! They look like grains of rice when they dry out, and you can usually see them under the animals tail, or in the area where it sleeps.

Gross, but not harmful, unless the animal is sick, very old or very young and the infestation is really heavy.

Answer:
Our cat had tapeworms last summer - lift Motzi's tail & see if there's any wriggly little gross things there!

A quick visit to the vet with some poop in a baggie and our Krazy kat just got a one-time pill that took care of them.

Answer:
LMAO @ lookin for little wiggly grosse things!

Answer:
That's how I knew Krazy had them! He was doing that cat "sticking butt in human's face" thing when I saw them, ick ick, YUCK!
Apparently they are actually dead even if they're still moving. If that's any consolation...

OK, that's where I would draw the line. Krazy kat would have been dog food.

Only kidding!!!!
(How the heck did it get to your ankle? Eww gross!)

Answer:
Really - I felt something on my ankle, reached down and felt something cold and wet ..ohhhh...EWWWWWWW. Just thinking about it.... ICK.

As to how it got there..ummmm..fell off a cat butt?

I'm going to bed now.:(

Answer:
I checked her butt and nothing that I can see wiggling. I haven't found anyhting around the house. She did have massive amounts of round worms when she was a pup. About 200...it was soooooooo gross! But you got me beat with the one crawling up the leg :P Motzi had the mange in Dec..took her to the vet. Now what has me worried is her immune system. Is there a disease in dogs like feline aids? She seems to get it all? She goes 2:40 Monday to the vet. I tell you the vet loves me lol! I may be worrying for nothing but it seems odd to me 2 different parasites in a few months?

Answer:
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo you ARE kidding LR RIGHT!!

Shivers shivers shivers.....oohhhhhh goose bumpies all over

Answer:
my cat had tapeworm and it looked like a small piece of rice. my cat had black fur and we spotted it easily. We actually just put the worm itself in an old container and dropped by the vets who confirmed the identity and sent us out with medication for the cat and my 2 dogs, just in case. my cat later got it again and now we know what it looks like so it's just a matter of dropping by the vet to get the meds.

By the way, many of the dewormers sold at the pet store are not effective for tapeworm.

Right. Don't buy meds at pet stores! You will only end up having to go to the vet anyway.

Luba, I'm not kidding.:(

Answer:
Just another thought about stuff at pet stores.

The flea stuff they sell in a little tube (resembling advantage).
We thought we'd save some money once and bought the stuff because our dog was itchy and we thought it was fleas.

Well we treated him with shampoo and later with the flea drops. The problem got worse, we saw no fleas but the dog started rubbing his butt on the coffee table and wearing the hair off above his tail. So we had his anal glands expressed because we thought maybe that was the problem. Nope, so finally we are at the vet thinking he has some kind of skin problem or something and shockingly it was fleas. Apparently our dog was allergic also making it way worse. Anyway, the point being one dose of advantage and within 1-2 days the scratching stopped. the advantage was so effective, all the money on shampoos and pet store brands was a complete wasted effort. I will only buy the advantage now.
