Hair loss - Kitten

Question:
Hello all,
I've had a kitten for a couple of months now and I've just discovered this great forum.
Now here is my question:
My 5 month-old kitten is losing hair above his eyes (between eyes and ears), symmetrically on both sides. It started a few weeks ago with a thin line, but it is getting worse by the day. I've read on the web about facial elopecia but it usually occurs with older cats, so I'm not sure this is the problem.
Would anyone know if this is normal? Where does it come from and how can I put a stop to it?
Note that the skin looks in good condition -no rash- and it doesn't seem to bother the cat at all. But to be honest, my half-persian kitty looks slightly weird with those bald patches!
Thanks for your input guys! Cheers from Ireland.

Answer:
I would take the kitten in to see a vet, it may be something that only a vet will be able to treat

Welcome to here, your thread has been moved to a more appropriate location.

Answer:
Actually I've had quite a few cats that have had what seems to be thinning hair in that area diagonally between the eyes and ears (not completely bald but a much thinner coat than elsewhere). I find that in a dark cat you would notice it more. The first cat I had that had it I went to the vet just to make sure it wasn't something like allergy or mites or something. You don't mention if your cat is scratching there or not. You may want to have a vet check it out, just to give you peace of mind.

Answer:
Quite often it's a sign of an ear mite infestation. Best to get off to the vets as we have seen cats with neurological damage from lack of treatment of mites. Better safe than sorry.

Thanks all for your advice.
The cat is not scratching, he doesn't look bothered at all. I'll take him to the vet to have him checked out.
