Question:
Hi there i am new to this forum but i found it very usefull... anyways.. I have a Collie X Corgie and he is 16 years old.. up intill about 2 days ago my dog started to become a bit sluggish and started to vomit... he vomited some weird stuff out like some kind of white soft balls also he vomitited one of those chocolate delights that you hang on your tree that is covered in tin foil... i was going to ring the vet but i thought he would be alrite... and he was.. started playing etc.. now today he has vomited twice both containing no food or anything just like bubily foamy texture vomit... just asking if anyone can shed any light on this

Your dog looks like a real sweetie. As to his symptoms, you must take him to the vet as soon as possible. Old dogs can develop any number of ailments and they are all potentially serious. So go today, OK? And keep us posted.

Yes i am going to try to take him today... just thought id add some more stuff.. As you know hes an old dog and not sure if this happens in old dogs but he barks at everyone and everyone he does... He barks to get up the stairs he sits in the bathroom barking on his own and even barks at the cooker:S... we did catch him eating something in the back garden it was some kind of material like rubber... the next day he vomited up a white kind of polysterine ball and also pooped out the same... im not sure if also this might be the problem but about 3 days ago we switched his food as he wouldnt eat the dry bisquits anymore so we have put him on tinned food that he has always eaten... i read other posts about "Empty tummy syndrome" could this be the case... im only asking this as the vets cost alot of money:P

His upset could be the result of the things you are describing or maybe even the food switch. All I'm saying it may be a sign of something else, problems with his liver, for instance.
Changes in our pets' behaviour are the only way they have to tell us that things aren't quite right. They also handle pain far better than we do. So you have to decide if it's alarming enough for a vet visit. In general, older pets should be seen once a year for a general check-up.
I've heard of old dogs barking at nothing. Maybe he's getting a little forgetful, or his sight and hearing are starting to weaken. Something else you could discuss with the vet
I would clean up anything he is likely to find appetizing in the areas where he spends time, such as the garden. A blocage requiring surgery could cost you plenty!
