Question:
I have a four year old female cat. She is fixxed.Why would she stop using her litter box.She peed on the bed and went to the bathroom in the plants.Is she stressed?We have just completed reno's?The location of the litter box has not changed.We clean it all the time.Could it be that she is sick?I am taking her to a vet.Just woundering if any one has had this problem with older cats.thank-you. Very worried.

It' a good idea to take her to the vet, in case it is not just stress. I would experiment with new kinds of kitty litter (maybe add another box) and bar her from the rooms where she has a tendency to do the deed.
Good luck at the vet. Have you noticed if her poo is healthy-looking? If she goes outside, I would also have her checked for worms.

I'd definitely get her to the vet asap in case it is a urinary tract infection or something more serious like kidney failure. Hopefully it is just stress but better safe than sorry. When you say older do you mean not a kitten? Four is adult but still quite young for a cat. Good luck.

It does sound like is a uti and if not, it could be stress. Cats are easily stressed and if she does not like winter - maybe she's seen more of it (from the house I mean) than she cares to. <g> I know my cats are not at all keen for winter but they are short or no hair kitties so that makes it different.

And she is still young after all.
