I am very ill, and have no one to help me, and I was wondering if I could get a Vet to come over to my place to check Ginger as he still has blood in his urine......I heard that there was someone called Dr. Bergeron who does housecalls, but I cannot find his telephone number...................any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!! Thanks. ^..^

Answer:
Sorry, I don't know any. You could always take a taxi maybe to the DMV...

Answer:
I don't know where you live, but there's a vet on de Maisonneuve just east of Papineau, open 1-9 every day. Guaranteed he'll be cheaper than DMV (although they are excellent, particularly in a dire emergency). The vet there is very competent and a nice man to boot.
Here's his website:

He doesn't do home visits and you wouldn't be able to get any meds without taking the cat in. If you can afford it, I'd jump in a taxi, or a find a sincere friend to take him.

I don't know Montreal at all but I know lots of larger towns have "pet taxi" service - quite often a local groomer or someone who will pick up pets and take them to Dr. appointments etc. Does anyone out there know of one - maybe you'd find something in a pet directory for Montreal. Sorry I'm away from home and don't have great internet access or i'd look for you. Once your cat is at the vet and he/she can take a look maybe they'd give you a call to discuss treatment. Worth a try?

To Prin, Badger and Otter:
Thank you so very much for all of your information, advice, suggestions and most importantly support! I am very grateful that you all answered my questions. I am going to spread the word about this hospital that is open every single day from !:00-9:00pm!!!!!!!!!! Great information. THANKS!

FOLLOW UP!! Just to let you know . Based on his behaviour, of not being in pain, still being mischievous and playful etc, I made an assessment, and decided that although it is very serious to have blood in the urine, but based on the sudden changes (see below!),as his symptoms have changed and I feel are still urgent, but no longer a big emergency, I decided that it could wait one more day, and I will take Ginger to the Vet tomorrow, Monday. In the meantime I put him on canned food, (I had an emergency can of Hills - turkey in gravy, and just now, for supper, I borrowed some Prescription Diet c/d from a neighbour and miraculously!!!!!!! he just urinated and the pink colour is GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and it is looking quite yellow!!!! I am in awe, and am wondering if it could have been the EVO or Fromm foods, and/or perhaps he passed some CRYSTALS...and maybe they caused some blood in the urine?????!!!!! But he has been behaving totally "normal" throughout these days of "pink urine", no pain, eating very happily, playing with his dog friend!!!!!!!?? Anyways, I am now going to feed him canned foods. Does anyone have any ideas about this? I would appreciate any opinions? Thanks!!

how do you know there's no pain?? It could burn when he pees and you wouldn't know it. Plus I hear cats are very good at hiding their symptoms so don't just assume he's fine if he's not walking funny or crying in pain.
But good that you're taking him to the vet tomorrow

Answer:
I'm in B.C. but just googled and found this one:http://www.esourcecanada.com/profile...ny_id=25982944 not sure if they are good or close but thought it was worth a try.

I agree with jiorji, there's really no way to know if he's in pain or not. Often cat's will purr and act normal until they are at death's door, something many people learn the hard way. It's good you are getting him to the vet asap, hope things work out okay.

Answer:
Yeah, that vet is a little far away.. There are vets practically on every corner in some neighborhoods in Montreal, but very few of them have extended hours...

Answer:
I'd take him in anyway, some things come and go but do not really get better without meds. He may be a cat who is prone to crystals and you'll have to watch what he eats. Canned is excellent.

Answer:
Where in Montreal are you? There is a vet in Vaudreuil who does housecalls but I'm not sure how far she goes. Her name is Dr Pilon and her number is 450-424-9063. Good luck!
