My dog is hiding because her brother was sick...
Question: Hello there...this is my first time posting a question ...I have a 5 year old male yorkie (Harley) (8 pounds) who over the weekend had an anal gland rupture ...He is the first little dog I have ever owned and knew nothing about the anal glands...I was unaware of exactly what had happened til he went to the vet...The vet emptied it the rest of the way and gave him a cortizone shot and put him on antibiotics...He is feeling MUCH better ...I also have a 3 year old female yorkie (Haddie) (4 pounds) who is normally very energetic and bossy with her brother and won't leave him alone...Saturday Harley was up on the couch with me and as he was getting comfortable Haddie came up behind him and smelled his bottom...As soon as she smelled it she tore off the couch...Since then she has been hiding in her crate, the corner or basically anywhere she can find...She is just acting weird...I cuddle and hold my babies ALL the time...She will come lay with me if I pikk her up and put her under the blankie, but as soon as she gets up she goes right back to the corner...She is also pacing back and forth in front of the corner and the crates...I mentioned this to the vet but he didn't seem to think it was a big deal...To me it is cuz it makes me think something is wrong...Someone please give me some advice...Also nothing else this weekend to my knowledge would have triggered this behavior and this has never happened before...FYI - She is not fixed as of yet(need to get that done soon)...and no I do not plan on her ever having babies and YES Harley is fixed...I thank you so much for your help and take care! Sarah Answer: Sorry, I can't offer any reason for her behavior other than to say he smells bad to her. Dogs have an acute sense of smell and maybe he smells like his anal glands or the vets office both of which are foul to her. Answer: Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
