heart murmur
Question: My female shiba inu has just been diagnosed with a heart murmur, my vet has put her on a special diet and she has to take a pill daily. She is so active and runs like the wind so this really surprised me. this is not a trait of the breed. Answer: How old is she? It could be something associated with age, otherwise, something carried from past generations. When my mom took her do to the vet last year they mentioned he had a heart murmur as well, due to old age. At this point, they aren't worried about it enough to put him on any sort of medication. My mother in law has he dog on pills for the same thing as well and she's ultra hyper because of it....it's funny seeing an old dog that moped around tearing around the house. Answer: My enlish shepherd had a grade 4 murmur and she lived to be fifteen with no problems. Some puppies are born with a slight murmur that disappears with age.I know a lot of dogs with murmurs of different grades and none have ever had issues, although these are usually considered a congenital defect so your breeder should do something about it.I've never heard of a vet prescribing meds for a heart murmur though.Although some can be corrected surgically. Answer: she is seven years old and very active she does not seem botherd with it at the moment anyway. Answer: Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
