It's a URI - but for how long?
Question: I am fostering a cat from the SPCA. She has a URI and when I brought her home, she was eating and acting normally, though sneezing. Overnight her illness got worse, lots of drooling and stopped eating completely. I tried sardines and wet cat food but these were not stimulating her appetite. The SPCA said to start foce-feeding her A.D. and said if she didn't start eating after 24 hours, that I should bring her to the vet, which I did. The vet said everything was normal, but she lost her appetite on a Saturday and though I've been force-feeding her, she still isn't eating on her own today, Thursday. How long will I have to keep force-feeding her? Should I bring her back to the vet? Answer: I'd get back in to the vet. I don't really understand why they would say everything was normal if she wasn't eating, or had she started again when you went in? It's possible she has a secondary infection and needs antibiotics. It is also common to lose appetite if you can't smell but it's been an awful long time imo. Here is a bit more info that might help:http://www.marvistavet.com/html/body...spiratory.html Good luck. Answer: I agree....she definitely needs to see the vet asap. Good luck and keep us posted. Answer: Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
