2 month old new puppy has diarrhea
Question: Hey there. I just got a new 2 month old male puppy named Brooklyn. The people I got him from did not get him any vaccinations or anything. I thought he would be fine if I brought him home but when we got home he seemed really sad. Not only was he sad but he has diarrhea. I'm worried because today he went 8 times every 2 hours or less and I dont think that is normal. Unfortunatley for me I have to make a trip of four hours to see a vet so I was wondering if there was anything I can do to help his diarrhea and make him go less. Plz help me and Brooklyn. Answer: a change of food will cause diarrhea in any animal. take him to the vet. He does need his vaccinations. Your vet, if he is any good, wont vaccinate any sick animal, instead he will find out why he is not well. Puppies are normally happy... not sad. that in it's self is a guide that there may be something wrong. So before you finish reading this, you should have already made the vet appointment. remember...the sooner you get things fixed, the sooner you will be able to enjoy the puppy stage in your pet. Things that are left too long CAN become serious and costly. keep posting and let us know pam Answer: Originally Posted by Marzy Unfortunatley for me I have to make a trip of four hours to see a vet so I was wondering if there was anything I can do to help his diarrhea and make him go less. What kind of dog is Brooklyn? Canned pumpkin works miracles, and almost instantly (100% pure pumpkin - not the pie filling). The diarrhea is likely caused by stress or nervousness, but a vet check is never a bad idea with new puppies, and that little guy is going to need his first set of shots ASAP. Also, puppies can dehydrate and die within 48 hours if is the diarrhea is bad enough, so please don't mess with this. It could be stress, diet, parasites, or even something as serious as parvo, and there's only one real way to find out. If the stool is somewhat formed but soft, try the pumpkin. If it's runny, fill your gas tank. But please make an appointment. Answer: I agree any pup that young that has diarreaha should be seen by a vet ASAP, it could be as a result of change of diet or even internal parasites Answer: Please go to the vet ASAP. It could be anything, from parasites to Parvo. Answer: I agree with the others. You must get him to the vet right away. A puppy that young with diarrhea that bad can die very quickly. Good luck and please post with an update. Answer: Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
