black area along calico kitten's lip

Question:
Our new kitten is a calico; her face is mostly white with ginger patches and the area around the mouth is mostly white. There is a patch along the lower lip on one side that is black, and it seems to have increased somewhat in area, but I may be mistaken.

Her behavior and appetite seem normal, she is is eating, drinking and playing just fine. No vomiting or diarrhoea and her stools seem normal.

I tried probing it gently and she didn't flinch or anything. She scratches her face occasionally.

I tried googling but only got a reference to acne in cats, this doesn;t look like spots, more of an area of black. I also found a description of someone's cat that has black and pink lips.

Is this something I should see a vet for sooner, or can it wait till she goes for her next shots? (end of next week)

TIA

Answer:
It sounds like normal skin colouring. If you look inside her mouth, you'll probably see that the skin in there is pink and black spotted, too and the pads of her feet are probably the same. My tabby cat's lips are all black but the skin inside her mouth is pink and black.

Mention it to the vet, but it does sound normal to me.

Answer:
thanks for the quick reassurance!

I'll have to wait for her to yawn to check the rest of her mouth. If I start poking around in there I may be risking my fingers

Her paw pads are all pink. But I keep noticing something new about her marking every day, or else the kids will notice something.

Quite the jjourney of discovery!
