I am hoping I can find the answer here as everyone seems real helpful. I have a cat about 10 yrs old who has been licking anything and everything, including me. She would lick me for hours if I let her. Her fur is real course and thinning to wear you see her skin in some areas. Also she seems to vomit quite frequently. She eats good and drinks alot of water otherwise. Any suggestions as to what may cause this?

Please take your cat to the vet right away. Constant licking is abnormal behaviour. The thinning hair, frequent vomiting and drinking more water than usual are also big red flags. Don't wait! your cat is suffering (yes, even though she purrs). Ask the vet to check her thyroid.

PS What are you feeding her? If it is the cheap, nasty kind from the grocery store, this may be the root of the problem. If your vet offers you expensive food, don't buy it! Try to find a good, holistic food, available at specialty pet food stores. It is pricy, but you feed less because it is more concentrated, the cat spends less time in the litter box and you will have fewer trips to the vet. So it's win-win for everyone (except the vet).
