Dog trembles when laying down

Question:
My 12 year old Jack Russel(Toufie) has been diagnosed with flud on her lungs which causes a congestion cough which is very noticable when she hs a drink. I notice that when she is at rest her body has a shiver/tremble which at times can be helped by picking her up and rocking her as you might do to a baby.Any advice would be gratefully apreciated . Many thanks.

Answer:
OH your poor baby must not be feeling well at all.

What is the vet doing regarding the fluid on the lungs?

When you say trembling, is it the entire body or just the extremeties or just the head? Is there any darting or movement of the eyes that is out of the ordinary?

Also, just to be sure.... your dog isn't dreaming right?
They jerk around a great deal when they are dreaming.

Does it make a difference which side she is on when this happens?

I'm not sure what is causing the trembling, it could be pinched nerves, neurological damage or trouble with a major vital organ and causing your dog to go into shock. Of course it could just be muscle spasm or even your dog is cold.

You can try some of the more simple things by covering her up and keeping her warm, keep a sweater on her that is NOT chest or throat constricting.

Rub her back while you have her on your lap to loosen and congestion in the chest and keep her very warm.

Do not give her cold water, make it room temperature or even a bit warmer. Warm her food up to luke warm consistency as well.
