Looks Like White Rice In My Cat's Stool
Question: My cat has what looks like white rice in his stool. They are alive for a while then die. I have used a over the counter wormer and it seems to work for a day or two but then they come back. What is it and how do I treat it? Answer: yuck yuck and yuck! take him to the vet! Answer: I had a kitten once that came home with it from it's litter/mother. One trip to the vet took care of it. I believe it was two doses. and poof no more creepy rice. Answer: Sounds like worms. You need to see a vet asap. Be careful as they can be transmitted to humans. Answer: yep worms vet, pronto! worming meds, relief for kitty Answer: There are different types of worms, so make sure you know what they are before you treat (ie. go to a vet and get a stool sample done). Answer: It sounds like tapeworm which needs a separate medication than what you give for roundworm which is the more common one. Is your cat outdoors hunting and killing/eating birds and mice? Take a stool sample to your vet for confirmation of tapeworm. Answer: OTC meds are pretty useless and sometimes harmful (Hertz flea collars come to mind). A couple of pills from the vet will take care of it. Answer: Agreed it does sound like tape worms and they come from ingesting a fleas or fleas eggs, you will need to go to the vet, as mention you should purchase dewormers only from a vets, animals have been known to dies from over the counter ones Answer: Yup, I agree, sounds like tape worms. You need to get your cat treated by a vet. Answer: Yep I agree my little one had a tape worm too ! Looked like sesame seeds coming out! It only required a needle to kill the worm.. Good Luck Cindy Answer: I use this product called Strongid T, you can get it at the vet or any farm/livestock supply place. It is a paste that tastes like caramel (no, I have not tried it). Anyways I use it on my dogs, puppies and our cat, it is made for horses, but works well on all animals, I got it from my vet. It kills several different types of worms like pinworms and tapeworms, plus many others. It is a simple small dose once, followed by another two weeks later. You can get a whole bottle and keep it for later use, or just enough for the two doses. Answer: If you use Strongid you need to do a double dose to kill tapeworms. Answer: One of my 4 cats is an indoor/outdoor cat that adopted me about 4 years ago. He's the only cat I have that is allowed outside and he is forever catching and eating voles, mice, rabbits, birds, etc. As a result he's always getting tape worms. I worm him when I notice the white pieces that you described. You'll see them in the cats stool and you'll notice them hanging off their fur near their back end after they first wake up especially. I get enough medication from the vet to worm him 3 or 4 times before I have to refill the prescription. 2.5 pills is all it takes and he's fine for 2 or 3 months again. clm Answer: Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
