Disoriented

Question:
I have a 3yr old blk lab and this morning he got up and went outside to go pee which he does every morning when all of a sudden he started barking at nothing and looked like he was becoming very upset he started backing himself up and his hair on his back was standing up and it looked like he was twitching with his head...so I brought him in and was petting him and he became very clingy but when I would stand up and move out of the room he would stand and back him self into a corner and get in like a defensive setting but as soon as I called his name he would be fine and come back over to me...and lay down by my feet... Please Help

Answer:
Maybe he saw a ghost? OK, laugh if you must, but who's to say there aren't such things as ghosts? Some people have ESP and see or hear things, we all know our pets (and other animals) have a lot more ESP-type feelings than we do. Maybe an animal was killed in the spot he barked at and its' spirit was there looking shocked?

Or it could be a magnetic passage, something in the earth that shifted (that does happen) and upset him? Notice how cats will sleep in certain spots in a hose (or the yard too) for months, and then suddenly shy away from that favorite place for no apparent reason? I read years ago that this had something to do with the crossing points of magnetic currents that shift from time to time. The cats like being on the cross-point and shift to the next one when the present one moves.

Or he's going nuts for no reason, which is HIGHLY unlikely!

Answer:
OK thanks i will keep that open as an option

Answer:
Supernatural events aside, if he has a second episode of anything similar it warrants a trip to the Vet. If only just to eliminate the possibility of seizure activity.

Answer:
A dogs sense of hearing and smell is much more sensitive than our own, so possibly he heard something unusual that had scared him than you were unable to hear ?

Answer:
Seeing as he's still pretty young, I wouldn't think it would be canine cognitive dysfunction. Probably just heard something or felt something out of place that startled him. Poor baby.

Keep us posted!!
