Question:
I was just wondering if there is any connection between a teething puppy and diarrhea. Timber, my Great Dane, is almost 4 months and he is teething right now. He has experienced diarrhea only after dinner the last couple of nights. He is not acting any different other than the diarrhea ... which leads me to wonder if it is related to his teething?

Answer:
I don't recall that any of our dogs experienced diarrhea while teething, but I've known a few human kids who did. If the diarrhea lasts more than a day or two, or if Timber stops eating or (especially) drinking, you need to get him into a vet as soon as possible. Diarrhea can lead to fatal dehydration very quickly in young animals.
