Do dogs get the flu?
Question: My dog threw up several times about 30 hours ago. Since then she's mopped around and is sad. Like you would if you had the flu. She hasn't eaten since. Will drink water. Can dogs get the flu? And how do I know if its something more serious and should seek medical attention? I should add, there's no blood, and she isn't crying or appear to be in pain. Will wag tail to say hi, but wont get excited. Answer: Do you know if your dog got into anything it shouldn't have? Garbage? Poison? Fed something fatty/greasy? Dogs get respiratory infections but don't get 'flu' symptoms like vomiting this way unless there is something else wrong. Has your dog ever had pancreatitis and is your dog on any medication? When the dog threw up what did it look like, was it food or foamy with yellow bile substance? I would say if you are uncertain as to what happened to cause it go to the vet, but do not feed/water the dog until you see the vet. Dogs that are in trauma or have something like pancreatitis throw up a lot sometimes and should NOT have food/water as it may worsen the situation and the dog may die. SO my suggestion, call the vet and go in! Answer: You really should check with your vet. But I once had a bad flu, and my dog would not leave my side, and she ended up getting sick the next night, and then was fine. We assumed that she had caught my flu, but can't say for sure. Did you just have the flu? If you didn't and it might be any of the reasons that Luba gave you, then please take her to the vet. You'll feel better once you find out that (hopefully) its nothing Answer: Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
