hello I'm Chuck - egg shaped lump on lab

Question:
my lab has an egg shaped lump on his rib cage. It is sort of semi-soft and stays the same size. It has been there for a couple of years and does not seem to bother him. Our vet says he can remove it ; I'd just like to know a little more. -Chuck

Answer:
HI Chuck! I don't know a whole lot about this, but I will tell you that my brother's lab cross has a big lump right in the front of his chest (about the size of a softball) that is kida soft (like jello or something ). The vet says that it is just a fatty deposit, and there is no point in removing it. He's 9 years old and has had it for years. Sounds the same as your lab. Some dogs (and people ) are prone to getting these fatty deposits that form lumps. I guess if it bothers your buddy, them maybe get a second opinion regarding removing it, but I would say that there's probably no need.

Hope this helps!

Nikki
