IBD update!
Question: You guys have all been so amazing helping out with my tummy-troubled Tommy, so I thought I'd give an update. After his scope the specialist was POSITIVE Tommy had IBD because of what she saw, and we started him on prednisone. The biopsies came back showing nothing, but they still all thought IBD. And the prednisone seemed to work quite well... for a while. Then he stopped eating yet again, which should NOT happen with IBD doggies still on prednisone, so they don't think it's IBD after all. Everybody's stumped, and they just hope he outgrows this, which apparently is not uncommon. We're weaning off the prednisone now because of that, and we're just on a med to keep him from vomiting - just treating symptoms. So far, so good! Tommy's up to almost 9 pounds, just over 10" tall and 10" long, a perfect little JRT . Thanks to you guys, he is off Medi-cal and doing really well on Natural Balance venison and brown rice formula. He didn't like the NB cookies, but we found Wellness Pure Rewards venison treats that he can have too and he is CRAZY for them! I think our doggy is eating better than we are now, LOL. Thank you for all the advice and support... I can't tell you guys how wonderful you all are, this board is fantastic! Answer: What a cutie!!!! I've seen a few jacks and he's definitely one of the cutest (I can't discount my dad's though... ). I'm glad he's betterish.. Let's hope it continues. Answer: Love the last picture ! Answer: Isn't he just adorable? Ok, I might be biased, LOL. I've always had larger doggies, shepherd mixes or lab mixes, this is my first little doggy and I wasn't all that keen on getting a JRT. I swear though, I am so in love with him it's crazy! I thought I'd get over it after the first month or so, but nope. I think my husband would be jealous if he didn't feel the same way about him too, lol. I can't believe I lived for so many years without a dog... it's just not a home without one. I'm just glad to find a board full of people as pet crazy as I am! Answer: He is adorable! He's looking really good, too! I hope he continues to improve! That's such good news that it isn't IBD...as long as it isn't anything else serious! But he's looking really healthy! And he's gaining weight. And I love his whiskers! Answer: Aww, he is looking so darn cute . Thinking good thoughts and sending good vibes for continued improvement . Answer: Glad to hear he is doing well. I have been lurking here for a while now and have been following your posts with extreme interest as one of my 7 year old boxers have been having almost the exact problems. I could not afford to get the biopsies done, but both the vet and the specialist think it is IBD. They have just started him on a trial run of prednisone and another pill for ulcers. I had already switched him to Innova EVO RM, but he was only eating about half what he should be. The first day he was on prednisone was the first day in a long time he has eaten as much as he should be. He has a lot of energy again. We are keeping a close watch though, as the steroids are hard on his organs, and don't want to keep him on them unless necessary. Sorry to jack your thread a little bit but my we've been through just about the same sorts of symptoms and treatments. Medi-cal, I wouldn't have thought it wasn't that good of a food if I hadn't found this forum. please keep us all updated on how he is doing. He sure is cute. Answer: What GREAT news! IBD is a nasty thing to deal with on a day-to-day basis so that must be quite a relief. And you have a might cute pupster there ! Answer: Good to hear that everything is getting better. Hopefully they will continue Tommmy is very very cute, looks so huggable Answer: Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
