Reverse sneeze, or something else?
Question: My beagle gets these little episodes from time to time, where he its like he's trying to clear his throat or sucking up to form a big loogy (I know, gross but its the best thing I can think of to describe what its like), only he does it over and over again. It doesnt seem to happen at any particular time, sometimes it happens when he's excited, sometimes on the leash, sometimes just out of nowhere when we are relaxing at home. Apparently his old vet said it was a reverse sneeze and nothing to really worry too much about, but I'm reading about this "reverse sneeze" and I just wasnt sure... Is this really just a reverse sneeze or could it be something else? Answer: There's a thread on reverse sneezing in this forum under the pet encyclopedia section....have you read it? It might contain some helpful information for you. As long as your vet has ruled out any other illness, it could very well be reverse sneezing. I know my Lhasa does this when he's excited...it usually happens when he's on the leash and we're heading outside. I'll pick him up and carry him out, and once he's in the fresh air, he's fine. Answer: I have a beagle that does this as well. My vet said that reverse sneezing is common in beagles. As long as the vet seen the dog and said that it was okay, then I wouldn't worry too much about it. Unless for some reason it caused her some difficulty, then it would be best to get it checked out again Answer: Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
