Dry skin on his belly?

Question:
As some of you know, Gomez is in Australian quarantine - 8 more sleeps to go!!

Today when I visited him I was brushing and checking for stuff and I noticed that his belly, where he has very little fur, looks like he was peeling after a sunburn - same color skin as usual, just kind of scaly... he did not complain at all when I touched it and tried to brush off the dead skin -

The rest of his skin and coat is just fine and today I left a bag of mixed Nutrience Holistic (what he has been getting there) and his new Eagle Pack holistic - he has never been allergic to anything and I did not notice any scratching or anything sinister...

Is his skin just dry? Is there anything I can do?

Thanks!

Answer:
Could be just dry skin. If it is, a fish oil supplement would help...

Answer:
Thanks Prin, apparently it was much better today tat my husband went to see him - I'm thinking the heat it's (92 here today) combined with sitting around all day is not good for his underbelly...

Can't wait to get him home - 6 more nights....

Answer:
Poor guy ! That heat sounds good to me at the moment in the land of ice and snow but I don't think my guys would be too happy with it for any length of time. Hope you have air conditioning ! I wonder if those cooling mats would be a worthwhile investment for him at home ?

Answer:
prob a combination of heat along with physical and emotional stress... hes waiting as anxiously as you are to be reunited... he should get better when he gets back with you. but try fish oil sup may help

Answer:
Yeah, michelle's right. It could just be the stress of it all.

Answer:
I've looked into the cooling mats - but it's supposed to be autumn here now, (ha!) so probably for next summer... today it's already back down in the low 80's...

I went to register him with a vet yesterday and he has an appointment for Weds, the day he gets out! They said it could just be from lying on the concrete floor -

I have to say, I really don't think he is very stressed at all, he looks great (except for the dry skin) and he is always so happy and bouncy - of course, he is a happy dog to begin with, so maybe that helps - I think we are suffering more than he is!

I have found out that a lot of the dogs in the kennels are showdogs or stud dogs, so they are extra careful with the care they give all the dogs there -

We do have aircon at home, so he will be nice and fresh when he gets home!

Thanks for the ideas!

5 more nights!!!!

Answer:
I think you're right....you are suffering more than Gomez is.

Five more sleeps.....pretty soon you'll be counting the hours.

BTW.....you need to change your "location".

Answer:
Woo! 5 more sleeps! It's less than a week! And there's a weekend in there too, so that'll make it go by faster!

Answer:
Woopsie...

Now I'm in Australia, thanks Rainbow!

It's going by quickly, isn't it, Prin? Sometimes it does feel like it' dragging though...

It rained today for the 1st time since we have been here - I wonder what he did, if he stayed under the roof or chose to get wet??

I wish I had a little webcam set up in his kennel...
