Someone Help My Cat!!!

Question:
i was wondering if anyone could help me find out wats wrong with my cat and what i should do.

his name is sher-kaun and hes a bit of a bully to other cats and gets in fights alot. anyway, for the past 2 days his eyes have been really runny and there is a bit of whitish goobery stuff too. hes been squinting also and dosnt open his eyes all the way. from the quick looks ive seen of them, the actual eyes look normal. his nose isnt runny at all but hes seems unusualy tired like hes not feeling good. ive been washing his eyes with a washcloth and hot water. should i take him to the vet or just wait and see what happens???

Answer:
Yes take to vet!! I look at it as if this were your child what would you do!! Or yourself.

Answer:
If it was my cat, I'd go to the vet. He may have been scratched from fighting. If he's squinting, I'd say he is either in pain or they are itchy or in some way annoying him. Best to take him to the vet, things might get worse and if they get worse, it usually tends to cost more. Good luck, let us know.

Answer:
Eye infections, if left untreated, can cause loss of sight. Take him to the vet.

Answer:
I agree. take him to the vet asap!

Answer:
Yes please get to the vet right away!!

Answer:
If he's not neutered get that done while he's at the vet as well, it might stop him from getting into so many fights.

Answer:
well today i noticed he wasnt squinting as much and the white goobery stuff is gone. his eyes are still watery looking though

Answer:
So not sure what that means! Are you gonna take to vet??

Answer:
Even if it looks better to you, it is still best to have someone who knows - ie a vet - to make sure he's OK. He may have other injuries not immediately noticeable to you. Vets know how to examine a cat properly. Also, if he is not neutered- that could also add to his aggression so you should have that done if it is not already been.

Answer:
Saw your other thread, and wouldnt you rather not have something bad happen to your pet,i see you wrote how guilty you felt.

Answer:
I'm sorry if this sounds rude but I really don't understand why people waste time posting here about serious medical situations when they should really be contacting their vet.

There are alot of very knowledgeable people on this forum but they can't diagnose your pet the way a vet could?

Sheesh, I have my vet on speed dial #1 and I NEVER hesitate to call when something is wrong with my pets.

Answer:
Thank you,my thoughts exactly but didnt want to get kicked off.

Answer:
oh dear... should I say goodbye to everyone now?

Answer:
NO!! But i should.

Answer:
It's just always better safe than sorry. Cats are sooooo good at pretending everything is okay, even if they seem fine they could very well be sick. I didn't know my cat had cancer for at least five months, I felt awful about it, I thought I would know if there was something serious. The signs of any illness can be very subtle. Its kitty brain thinking okay if I act strong mommy and daddy won't eat me/abandon me or something like that, its instinct. By the time they show signs it means they are REALLY uncomfortable. That is why people here with lots of kitty experience will always recommend a vet visit. You just can't be to careful.

Answer:
dont worry i would never let my cat go on like that without being taken to the vet. like right after i posted that last thing yesturday i made my mom take him to the vet.he gave us some stuff to put on his eyes and said it would go away eventually. it was some kind of infection probably from another cat im guessing but said it wouldnt cause him to go blind or damage his eyes. he is neutered but theres alot of other male cats in our area who i dont think are so mabey thats why he gets in so many fights.

Answer:
I take care of a female feral and she had the same problem, but by the time i got her to the vet it cleared up,he said it could of been conjunctivitous..

Answer:
Well that's good to hear. Hope it gets better soon.

Maybe you could keep him in more often. I know its difficult once they are used to the outdoors but sometimes they get used to being inside and start to prefer it. That's what my guy was like but you need to offer lots of activities like cat condo, toys, cat nip. I hear people even buy kitty videos with birds.
