My oldest malamute
Question: I have a problem with my oldest malamute and hope someone can help me. Aleyeska is 8 years old and for the past 2 months she has been limping, having a hard time going up stairs and she won't even attempt the stairs outside to go to the yard if there is ice or snow on them. She isn't in any pain and has had no trauma to her legs. A vet friend told us she probably has arthritis and to give her an ectorin a day. We started doing that and on the days she gets the ectorin she is great, walking around playing with her mate and so on. The days my hubby forgets she can barely get up the stairs it seems. Lately I have noticed her back left paw turns in as she is walking. Does this sound like arthristis to you all. Answer: I'm sorry to hear your dog is not doing so well. I think that only a vet will be able to confirm what may be wrong with her. Perhaps you could make an appointment soon so she can get the appropriate diagnosis/treatment? Good luck and keep us posted. Answer: only the vet will be able to tell you what is wrong then you can give her what she needs, I sorry she is not doing well keep us posted on her conditions Answer: Dogs are very stoic ~ just because she is not crying does not mean she is not feeling pain. Limping or favouring a leg is a sign of pain. Maybe it is arthritis or maybe you were not present when an injury was caused. Two months of limping is a very long time to be in pain and the damage will only worsen and perhaps become permanent if left untreated. Please take your dog to a Vet as soon as possible. Answer: I agree with the others and please do not self medicate your dog as you may do more harm than good. Please take her to the vet and post with an update.
