poop sample ?

Question:
I'm going to the vet tomorrow with Sam, he vomitted twice (once Monday and once Tuesday) and has diaria. My vet told me to hold his food for 24 hours, so I did. He had his dinner tonight, but hasn't poop yet. I was wondering, would it help if I took a poop ( diaria ) sample to my vet ? And if so, do I have to keep the sample in a cold place ? ( like fridge or freezer?)

Answer:
Yeah, it sounds like a good idea to bring one. Just in case. My vet always tells me to keep it in the fridge if I have to collect it early for an appointment. Hehehe... I end up walking around with a baggie of cold poop in my purse.

Answer:
I was told not to bring frozen samples in, can kill the living grossness in the poop.
Chilled perhaps, but not frozen.

Answer:
Yeah, fridge, not freezer...

Answer:
Just be sure not to accidently grab it in the event of midnite snacking

It looks more like melted caramel so yes, there's diaria right now in my fridge call my vet earlier to tell him and he asked me to come earlier so he can have time to run tests. So I will leave work around 3:30 so I can be there with Sam at 4:30.I hope I will find out today with is wrong. I'm getting a bit worried.

Answer:
for Sam...

Answer:
for you and Sam, Frenchy

Answer:
I was thinking about asking for a blood test if nothing comes up in the poop, should I ?

Answer:
If he hasn't had a panel run for a while I would. With the older pets I like to do them every now and then anyway so I always have a good base line when looking for changes.

Answer:
I agree. Good luck and lots of good vibes coming for Sam.

Answer:
Sam is alright ! Just a "gastro" , my vet thinks he might have eaten something in the yard I don't know. So he has 10 pills per day for 3 days (Metronidazole) and a bag of Medi-Cal gastro (I said ok but give me the smallest one!) and what do you know ; first ingredient ; corn. I had him weighted ; 100 pounds ! He lost 9 pounds in 2 months. He may have lost 1-2 this week but not more. So I guess the diet did help.

I knew he had lost of tartar on his teeth, but he has to have one taken out so I will have his teeth clean at the same time. And he will have blood test then.

Now I can breathe ! wooohooo !

Answer:
