finicky cat
Question: Hi, I just wanted an expert opinion on what to feed a fussy cat. He's allergic to fish, stomach gets bloated, eyes gets watery and red. He likes canned tuna, and I do offer it once in a while. But he won't actually eat it anyways, just likes at the juice. As to dry food, he gets to choose from 3 kinds at all times. I've noticed that he's lost 2 pounds recently. His spine and hip bones are really starting to show. is there any supplement that I should be giving him? There was a change of environment(from clinic cat to my apartment), but that was well over a month ago. He still purrs alot, so I don't think he's unhappy, right? He's just not eating as much as I'd lke him to, and I'm really worried. He usu. passes stools everyday and a pretty large amount. Now he only goes around every 4 days, and when he does, it's in small and thin bits. Another worry was that he swallowed app. 6" of elastic string(with a knot tied) from his cat toy. I took him back to the clinic, he was given Bips, x-rays, and stayed in hosp. for a day. In the end, the doctor said that he passed the bips out o.k. . But I can't help but to constantly think that the piece of string is still in there because no one had actually seen him poo it out. Please, could you shed some guidance on what I should do? I just cannot bear to watch him loose anymore weight. Answer: 2 lbs is a LOT for an animal that small to lose! That, along with his other symptoms make me think something serious is going on. It's possible the elastic is still in him, and if so, he could die from this. Purring does not indicate good health, and in fact some cats will purr while they are dying. I really suggest you get this cat to another vet ASAP! Answer: The string could be wrapped around his intestines. Please get the cat to the vet ASAP. Answer: Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
