My cat Luna's test results - after recall-list food ingestion

Question:
Hi Everyone...

I have to say again, thank you SO much to Rainbow, Chico2, OneBeagleGirl, Prin, RolandsMom and EVERYONE that was kind enough to ask after Luna or send thoughts our way, over the several different posts we've shared this past 2 weeks. I truly, truly appreciate it... not everyone 'gets' what this recall is doing to us 'pet parents'.

Great news for me - Luna is FINE thank the gods! The vet did three tests and found her kidney and liver function is not only very good, but acting better than normal for her age (5 years next week), and her blood is strong, healthy, etc. We got very lucky.

HUGE good wishes and positive vibes to all those out there that didn't fare as well or still don't know... my heart and hopes are with you. Stay strong!

The back-story (for those that are reading that are thinking "who the heck is Scary and Luna?" , or as suggested by another poster, just want to know for comparison to their own situations...):
I fed my first and only cat Luna possibly tainted food for months: she got Nutro pouches, 1 every 2 weeks as a treat for years including through this winter -the pouches were on the recall list. She was a bit sick/off here and there this winter, but nothing serious, and I didn't worry too much until the recall last week. She showed no major symptoms recently, but my vet recommended she get tests done to catch any possible kidney failure early. He discounted his lab fees and rates for recall-related tests, which I think is very fair. Luna was cleared this morning.

Further good news is that my vet said several people have brought their pets in for tests and checks, and he hasn't personally seen any that are ill or dying as a known result of the recall food (despite that damn walmart 1 block away that is/was still selling it. )

I also fed her Nutro kibble until last week, and just happened to switch her to Innova EVO as its a better food and to see if it will help her lose her extra 2 pounds... she's adjusted fine and is doing great and will get 1/2 cup of kibble daily, and the odd Innova or Merrick canned food only.

Again, thanks for your concern everyone... all the best. ~Scary and Luna

Answer:

I'm not so happy that Walmart is still selling the stuff.

Answer:
That's wonderful news, Scary! It's so good to hear a happy ending!

Answer:
Very glad to hear shes doing well. Scary stuff for sure!

Answer:
BIG BIG BIG heartfelt thanks again for all of your caring and concerned comments about Luna! I am absolutely relieved... I tell you, for the $90 I spent on the tests, I had no idea how much more peace of mind is actually worth.

I hope this post did give a smidge of good news and hope to pet parents in this terrible time. I am truly sorry if any readers take this any other way than was meant... my continued sympathies for those not as lucky.

Scott_B - was the Scary line a pun on purpose?
