Tartar Control

Question:
Greetings! Can anyone recommend a good tartar control product, besides brushing for my cats? My Alex does not take well to brushing. I have tried one mouthwash, that I just add to the water, but it doesn't seem to do much and it is very expensive. I would prefer to stick to a mouthwash type solution, for the water, if possible. I would also be interested in natural home remedies. All help appreciated!

Answer:
Is Alex a dog or cat????

Raw bones work wonders for dogs (chicken backs, turkey necks ect) also a raw diet has improved my cats oral health as well, but I dont know what specific body parts to thank for this. Most likely the chicken bones as well.

Answer:
I use DentaTreat by Wysong, works well.

Answer:
I use good food.

I hope you're not using human mouthwash...

Answer:
Hi ~ welcome to forum! Cats and dogs have very different food types not to mention dental care. Some foods will stain more than others, no matter the price. If you are feeding kibble it's important to research quality. You may want to have a boo at our food forum for some "quality" opinions.

I know some folks and their animals who are very happy to brush and have their teeth brushed, neither me nor mine, I'm (not particularly) saddened to admit.

I've been to some booths in the various Pet Expo's and noted their claims about tartar control and tooth whitening with water additives and oxygenation. Is that where you got your mouthwash ?

So tell us a little more about your animal, what are you feeding them now and what is the mouthwash you are using ?
