Cat scratched dog's nose
Question: Hi I have a nine year old cat who I have had since she was a kitten. I recently adopted a one year old border collie/lab rescue dog from the humane society. The dog is very timid, the most animated I have seen him is with the cat who he wants to play with badly. I read up on how to introduce them and they have been doing well, but today Cash the dog got a little too much in Spencer the cats face and got smacked on the nose. The nose bled a little but quickly clotted. I know from personal experience that sometimes these scratches can get infected. Is there anything I should do? Should I put some neosporin or anything on the wound? Cash seems unaffected by it and they have both retreated to neutral corners. Answer: Is your cat an indoor or an outdoor cat ? Vaccinations ? I'm a personal fan of flushing scratches and wounds with saline or hydrogen peroxide but if it has clotted it's too late. Keep a careful eye for infection. Answer: Cat is strictly indoor. Has her vaccinations etc etc ... Both promptly went and laid down and went straight to sleep so I guess not too stressful haha Its been a little frustrating though, its been a slow process integrating them and although i dont have to keep Cash on a leash anymore around her and he mostly ignores her and minds if I say 'leave her' I still keep a close eye and she still hasnt relaxed around him as she has around another dog I used to petsit. EArly on they had a 'chasing' incident, I didnt realize she had gone downstairs and he took off after her and she rarely comes downstairs since then. Thanks for any advice Answer: Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
