Help! New Kitten owners...have a question!
Question: We have two 9 week old kittens and one seems to have a cold. He's been sneezing, and very sleepy today (without being overly playful), and his eyes have a film over them and the lids are quite large and noticable... I'm taking them to the vet in the morning, but should this be addressed tonight? Thanks! Answer: I am a total worry wart,so yeah if it is was possible to get them in sooner i would, especially because they are so young. Answer: Me too, the smaller they are the quicker they can decline if ill. Dehydration is a big problem in a kitten that small if they're sick, the sooner you can get to a vet the better. Cindy Answer: Will you post an update when you get back? Answer: We took them in last night and just Stewie has the cold so far. We have him on amoxicillan for 7 days and they gave us enough in case Molly gets it too, which I'm sure she will. They are inseperable. He has been drinking still but I haven't noticed him eating. I'll heat up some of the kibble and try that for him. He probably would have been ok until this morning but we couldn't not take him. His eyes looked so sore and he wasn't playing at all. Poor baby! Answer: Poor little thing. I hope he gets better soon. Cindy Answer: Poor baby...Sounds like URI(Upper Respitory Infection) My cat had this when we adopted him from the SPCA at 8 weeks old.It usually lasts anywhere from 7-14 days.My guy didn't need antibiotics as it was mild(3 types) What you can do to get him to eat is try him on tuna...It has a strong smell. And when they don't eat it's sometimes because they can't smell their food. Also if he gets plugged up,use a humidifier. Hope he feels better soon. Answer: HUGS for Stewie....I hope he recovers quickly. Answer: He's doing well so far. Sneezing still but nothing coming out. He doesn't sound conjested either. He had a little diarhea last night, nothing major, but it's probably due to the meds. He's been eating normally and drinking as well. He's back to pouncing and wrestling with his sister. She looks to be ok so far but I won't be surprised if she gets it. I must say, he's pretty cute taking his meds. He likes the banana flavour and licks his lips like crazy... Answer: That is cute especially as it's often hard to get a cat to take meds. Then again, he's young so it's easier than with an older cat you often have to trick. You're a good Mom, taking him in so quickly, Stewie and Molly are lucky little to have found a home with you! Answer: Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
