Can my dog have my flu?

Question:
I have been sick for a week or two and now my 11 yr old Samoyed is really ill. She's not eating, drinking, anything really. We took her for a long drive (10.5 hrs) to go back to our home town and she seemed fine there. Suring the ride she started to have a dry cough, so I'd give her water and she seemed ok. I had noticed sometime during the car ride that she was trembling. The roads we were driving on were horrible so I just figured she was afraid or stressed out. When we got home ( another 10.5 hrs) she was limping but I figured it was from the long drive. That was 2 days ago. She hasn't eaten or drank since then. I had to pick her nose for her to get some of the dried mucus out. Her breathing seems to be a lot of work, and she still has trembling spells. I know she's getting up there in age, but I don't want to freak myself out thinking she's dying. I'm taking her to the vet today, but just wanted to see if anyone would have aheads up of what to expect.

Answer:
for your doggy's Vet visit today.

Answer:
Dogs cannot get flu from humans. There is something else wrong and glad you took her to the vet. What did he say?

Answer:
She was very vvery concerned about the stuff in her nose. She has never seen anything that color. It was something that had just presented itself yesterday so that's what really prompted me to take her in. I've known this dog to go into depression after we leave the cabin.... so that's why I gave her a day to see if she'd snap out. She has an elevated heart rate, her breathing is rapid, and she has a fever... on top of the nose thing. I told her I'm worried that her kidney's are starting to shut down. She said her terrible breath could mean that as well. She's been there overnight to rehydrate, get on anitbiotics and get a full blood panel done. I've cried pretty much nonstop since yesterday morning. Even though I know this age thing is coming... I'm not ready to let go yet. But on the other hand...I refuse to keep her alive if the ending is still so near. I won't let her suffer. She's had an amazing life and is an amazing amazing animal. It'll break my heart if this is the beginning of the end. I should know by this morning what the blood panels show. Please pray that it's jsut some freak infection or something. My other pup is so lost without her mother figure right now.

Here's a picture of her at the cabin this past weekend. I hope this is something we can fix...she looks so good in this picture... can it really happen this fast???

Any news? I hope it's not too serious. Would it have been because of the recall?

She's so pretty! I really hope she's ok.

Answer:
i just got back from the vet... I held her while she went to sleep. This is the hardest thing I have ever had to do. Her liver was shutting down. It was only a matter of time and there was no way she was going to get better. I didn't have the heart to make her hurt any longer. She is going to be creamated and my family and I will be taking her back to the lake. I want her to go on the record as the most amazing dog.
