Frequent Urination
Question: I own a 5 month old female blue heeler. Four days ago I had her spayed. Since she has been home she has been urinating without knowing. She urinates when she is walking, sitting, laying down and sleeping. She didn't do that before we had her spayed. I called the vet and he put her on an antibotic. The vet mentioned something called cystitis. Does anyone know what that is? Thanks Answer: From what I know, cystitis is just bladder inflammation or a bladder infection. The antibiotic should take care of it. Answer: Is she peeing a lot at a time or is it just little dribbles? As Prin said, cystitis is a bladder inflammation or infection which is very likely after spaying, especially if they used a catheter on her. The antibiotics should clear it right up. However, if it continues she could have a problem called spay incontinence. My female Greyhound had this for about a year after she was spayed and it was just little dribbles that came out, usually when she was sleeping. So, if the problem doesn't clear up with antibiotics I would ask the vet about this. Good luck! Answer: Dottie, my dog, was urinating a lot, but as of today now it is just dribbles. Hopefully she is on the mend!! Thanks for the info. Answer: Hi Dottie...as the rest here have said, no worries the antibiotics will help. I used to raise Heelers, and that was a normal.
