Max needs everyone's good thoughts...

Question:
Max went in for his x-ray today after they found more blood in his urine anaylsis then they initally expected. It revealed a bladder stone which is to large to be broken down and as such need to be surgically removed. He is an older cat and has had a comprimised immune system over the last month due to another cyrstal and being subsiquently removed from Wellness and put on a crappy food and as such we are very worried about the risks of being put on anesthetic. He's going under tommorow and we won't get him back until friday:(.

Answer:
Kayla, I'm sorry to hear of this setback for your kitty.

I'm sure your boy will be fine, and will recover nicely. I'ts a very stressful thing for you, of course. Having them put under at any time brings anxiety. The more vulnerable we view them to this, the more we worry. But he is excellent hands with your vet, I'm sure, receiving the very best of care.

My thoughts and prayers are sent for your dear Max. Please keep us posted, wont you?

Ok time for one more update, step dad was rushed to the ER this morning so had to get a ride from my uncle to pick up Max after his surgery yesterday. He has to wear a cone for a week or so until the stitches heal so got him home and seperated him from Duke to keep him as low key as possible and took Duke out for a walk after feeding him( he gets anti-pain meds mixed in for the next few weeks). Got home and to my surprise Max had managed to pull his very secure cone off: Hoping he hadn't ripped out his stitches (though he has 8 or 9 at various levels including 4 on the skin) I checked his belly and alas there was a bit of an opening and blood ( though it wasn't flowing out). So my mom and step-dad finally got home and my mom just brought him to the E.R to get them re-stitched as I have a major english paper I need to finish up or I would of gone with him.

A minor set-back none the less. I talked to the vet about feeding raw and she is extremely anti-raw, I am going to try him on it though for a month or so I will keep him on the crappy anti-crystal vet food at least while he recovers and then will try him on raw and then do a checkup a month after that to see if any crystals are coming back and so on.

Answer:
I'm glad to hear Max has recovered well enough to know he hates his cone But just a small caution ~ it's important to know what type of stone Max has formed as this should dictate what you can feed him safely and preventatively.

Answer:
Heh well I'm actually shaking my head at myself, just got a call from my mom at the emergency vet with Max, it turns out that he didn't rip his stitches but because they are dissolvable there one sided so you can still see the incision through them. Luckily their not charging us.

Kayla

Answer:
That's great and they did not charge you..WOW,that's unusual..
As for feeding a cat raw,I've tried a couple of times, with liver, chicken(small pieces)but my cats look at me as if I was nuts,no way would they touch that disgusting stuff
Vinnie however, took a cucumber off my counter dragged it downstairs and was chomping at it,he has a "thing"for english cucumbers
