8 week old germonsheperd
Question: I got a 8 week old puppy and the last two days shes been vomiting 6 to 8 times a day but she is still eating and playfull and shes got the runs a bit. Iam feeding her puppy food that the petstore said to feed her.Is this something to do with getting use to food or should i take her in to the vets.Allso i got to get her shots but not sure how old she has to be to get them and dewormed but no worms in her poop. Answer: Hardhat, I will tell you the same thing that everyone else on this forum will tell you - PLEASE TAKE THIS PUPPY TO A VET IMMEDIATELY! Puppies can become dehydrated VERY quickly. Since your pup has vomitting and the runs, the risk is even greater. Plus having both symptoms can be a sign of parvo, which, if the pup is to have any chance of survival, must be treated right away! It may also be a bad reaction to parasites which will also require immediate treatment. To give you an example of how fast pups can dehydrate, Oliver, my now 8 1/2 month old puppy, had what turned out to be a bad parasite reaction. He had intermittent runs for a day and vomitting for half a day. Immediately on him having the runs I spoke with my vet. My vet advised me to monitor him and bring him in if his condition got worse (since the runs were intermittent). When he vomitted the next day, knowing the dangers of dehydration, I immediately took him in. As a result of the intermittent runs for just over a day and the minor vomitting, he was on IV for 4 days to rehydrate him!! He also continued to play, etc. so do not let your puppy's desire to be somewhat playful fool you! Michelle Answer: YES.PLEASE get her to the vets. This is not right.Something is wrong. Where did you get this pup? What were they feeding her before you got her?And what are you feeding her now? Sorry but I have to ask this. What do you mean your not sure when she has to get her shots? Answer: After reading your replies i called the vet and they said to bring her in friday and till than make sure i keep her drinking alot of water and if she got sicker bring her in right away.why i didnt take her to the vet right away is because she is our second dog and are first dog when she was a pup she was sick for three days and than fine so i thought it was just a puppy thing stupid me.we had our fist dog for 14 years and had to put her down. so thanks again i hope everything will be ok. Answer: How is she doing now? I'm glad that she will be seeing a vet. I take it you just got her? This is why I was asking you were you got here. Her sickness could have started before you got her. Answer: Having recently gone through the same thing I can tell you that it could be something simple, like feeding something different than what the mom's owners fed her. It could also be something serious like worms, coccidia, even parvo. If she starts moping around or stops being interested in play take her to the vet early. In the meantime, CMT48 is right, make sure she drinks alot to prevent dehydration. Let us know how things go with the vet. Hugs and kisses to your puppy. Answer: Could be food.....how are they doing today? Don't you all just love the way puppies smell? They shouLd just bottle that! Answer: I know...Such a sweet smell.....
