First heat, too much blood?
Question: Hi, My dog is having her first heat. She is a Havanese approximately 12 lbs. and is just over a year old. My concern is about the amount of blood. She was dripping all over, I finally went and bought her pads and belt, it works really well. Can dogs become anemic? Is there any concern about a dog losing too much blood and should I change her diet. She seems fine, still playful. Any information anyone has would be really appreciated. Thanks, Cotton Answer: I would get to the vet right away for a full physical to make sure she is okay and make the appointment to have her spayed ASAP. Answer: Yes i agree i would get her the vet.and make sure everthing is ok and also to see about getting her spade right away. Answer: Yes, if she is bleeding excessively, get her to a vet ASAP. Normally, there is just some blood spotting, not heavy bleeding. You need to make sure she is not hemorrhaging. Of course, I recommend you get her spayed.
