Ailling kitten
Question: One of my cats recently had her first litter. She had some trouble, four livebirths, and one that may have been a stillbirth. I was not at home when this occurred, and when I returned I moved her to a more comfortable area to finish birthing, two kittens appeared dead, but one of them was not. A small grey kitten, cold, and barely responsive. I made sure the mother (Midnight) was aware of her ailing kitten. It has been a few weeks, the kittens' eyes are open and the grey kitten (named Boron) seemed to have made a full recovery. But I have recently noticed a large bulge, or swelling, on his front left leg. He doesn't appear, to me (my sister's disagree), to be in much pain, but his leg doesn't seem to be functioning fully either. The bulge seems to be filled with liquid. What could this be? And what can be done? However the best way to get answers to your questions is taking him in to the vet. Better to be safe than sorry right. Answer: They need to see your vet.asap! So young, i would not be here i would be at the vets office............ Answer: Please take your sweet little kitten to the Vet, that doesn't look to good. It's probably best to take mom and her whole litter, to make sure everyone is healthy. Having pets that have babies isn't as "natural" as some may think, all kinds of porblems, pain and heartache (for both pets and owners) can happen. I wish all your cats the best and I hope that kitten is okay. Answer: Originally Posted by serialzombie A small grey kitten, cold, and barely responsive. I would have brought him in at this point. He's really lucky to be alive. If he is showing any sign at all of discomfort then he is probably in A LOT OF PAIN. Cats don't usually let you know until things are very bad and if he is not using his leg properly that is most likely because it hurts quite badly. I'd get to the vet ASAP. The mother and kittens should have been monitored through the pregnancy anyway so it would be nice of you to have them all checked out. Perhaps you can also schedule the appointments to have them all fixed as well. Answer: As the others said, please take the little guy to the vet. You also need to get momma cat spayed asap. Good luck and keep us posted. Answer: Welcome serialzombie, Unfortunately our members are not vets and unable to address potentially serious health issues like this one. Time is critical - please contact a vet immediately. Good luck, we'll watch for an update on your pet's condition. In keeping with site policy, this thread will now be closed.
