I own two cats and they have lived together for 7 years. In the last 4 months the youngest of the two started to mess on the carpet. It has only happened 4 times so far in the 4 months. I did check the feces for worms or blood and nothing. I don't know why she has started this. I also clean out the litter box every single day and the litter has been the same kind for ions. Help!!

4 times in 4 months is not the end of the world.....though it is unsightly.

It is possible that the cat is going in the litterbox but still has some poop attached when it leaves the box.... then that poop can end up on the floor.


If this behaviour increases I'd worry but for now...just be sure the litter box is always clean and in a good clean private area.

Thank you for the reply. All that you have said has been done since she was a kitten. Litter box is cleaned out twice daily. Litter box is in the same area it has always been. And no, it is not feces attached to her fur has I keep her well trimmed. This is a complete dump job she does. Not just a little.
