Question:
My dog mylo is 2 yrs old and has the vets confused. He recently had a tumor remover from his leg. Now his lymph nodes are swollen, he has been on antibiotics/steriods and has had tons of tests, none came back cancerous but he will not eat anything and lays around all day long. He did test positive for lyme but the vets dont thik this is causeing all these problems. Because he wont eat he has lost 10 lbs and was only a 30lb dog to begin with. If anyone has any ideas about whats going on or how to get him to eat anything please reply! Mylo is like my son....

I think I would find another vet. If they don't know what is wrong with your pup and he is losing weight and lathergic, I would find a vet who can answer these questions. This is what I would do if it were either Lucky or Dixie.

The vets I have now are consulting with a larger animal hospital. I should have more info sat. But I really need to get him to eat hes lost 33% of his weight....

What sort of foods have you tried feeding him? Sometimes sick dogs will eat something nice and smelly like fish...or drink something like broth (as long as there's no onions in the broth). Is he drinking? If he gets too dehydrated, it could be serious, he might have to get subQ fluids at a vet.

I hope the other vet is able to figure out what's wrong.

Ive tried feeding him everything, dog food wet and dry bologna, han, turkey, slim jimms....he drinks a ton of water but kinda "gags" on it sometimes...

I have been having similar problems with my dog lately too. She has lost lots of weight, slightly anemic and her WBC is moderately high. She is on antibiotics and the vet gave me a recovery food. She wouldn't eat anything but tuna before but she really seems to like this. It also is full of calories and is made for situations like ours. Have you talked to your vet about this kind of food? You can also take can food, like this one, and blend it with some water and use a synringe to feed your puppy.

i would try sardines, very nutricious if only eats a small amount, also water off boiled liver can tempt a sick dog and have lots nutrician if drinking but not eating, on the opposite side if strong smell putting him off fish, fresh fish or tinned tuna.
(A suggestion about the cause of this, could be soooo way off as could be anything but maybe suggest to your vet ...auto immune disease, often hard to pinpoint as body attacking itself. Often simple treatment like Prednisalone stops symptoms)

If he won't eat on his own I would force feed him with a super premium/holistic canned food. You will have to take small amounts and smear it on the roof of his mouth. If he doesn't keep it down then he will need to be put on an IV drip at the vets.

It was cancer , my mother had him put down a few hrs ago while I am up her in school... ....he wasnt eatin because he was choking to death. Dont know what Im going to do...
