Concerned......
Question: I live in an apartment and late Sunday afternoon/early evening, one of my cats,Bandit, was sitting by the door when some kids ran down the hall yelling. It scared him and he took off down to one of the bedrooms. Now ever since then, his tail which he usually keeps up,has been hanging down between his legs.I don't know if he crashed into the wall and maybe hurt himself or if he's just still scared. He's not limping and he doesn't cry when he's picked up but seeing his tail like that is freaking me out. He's spending most of the time in a closet and when I go get him to feed him,he runs right back to the closet as soon as he's finished.I sit on the couch with him on my lap petting him and talking to him hoping if he's just scared, that'll help. We're going to try and get him into the vet tonight or tomorrow to see if maybe he did hurt himself when he ran to the bedrooms. Answer: Ravenheart, I understand your worry, and I think that taking him to the vet is a wise choice you've made. His behaviour could be lingering fear, but as the event that scared him was two days ago, I'd say its more likely something else. He may well have injured himself when he bolted, or it's possible its from something else unrelated. Cats are very stoic, mask their pain, and it can be hard to detect anything is wrong for some time. An unusual retreating can be the first indicator that they are unwell. You'll have peace of mind if the vet confirms that there is nothing physically wrong. I hope your kitty will soon be back to normal, poor thing. Let us know, wont you? Answer: Aww poor Bandit. I think Shamrock summed up really well so I don't really have anything to add. Just wish you luck at the vet and will keep my its nothing serious. If he is getting older they may want to do some bloodwork as well which I think is probably a good idea even if just for peace of mind. Answer: I agree with Shamrock and Maya. Good luck at the vet and keep us posted. Answer: Good news.We just got back from the vet and there's nothing broken the he could find when he did an examination but he did give us some pills for Bandit to take and said if he's still the same way in a week to bring him back and they'll take x-rays.He's moving around alot more now but it could be the pill that the vet gave him.I'm still going to keep my fingers crossed just in case.
