tazz's cat chasing has caught up on him...

Question:
Ok so i have been trying to calm tazz's excitement when he see's a cat and so far it has been working but at the weekend with the wonderful weather we had we were all out in the garden (half an acre) having a barbecue and relaxing when tazz caught me off my gaurd and ran after an unsuspecting cat who had been sunning itself at the bottom of the garden. When i called him and he came back (after chasing it away) he had a cut on the inside of one of his ears which looked like a claw mark so i bathed that and it is healing fine. His other ear however had a small patch of fur missing right on the end so i bathed that aswell and have been doing all week. The problem is that it is getting worse not better, it seems to be 'disintergrating' and his actually ear is starting to 'crumble' ( i know not best choice of words) I have a vets appointment tomorrow and there is no swelling or heat around the area. In fact he dosnt even mind me bathing it. Im just wondering if anyone has had the same experience or any ideas on what this could be it has started worry me.

Answer:
I'm not sure this is the same thing? On Lizzy's ear she has like a callous all along the edge of the ear. But her fur is extremely short there. Vet said it was ok and just like a callous from it hitting the collar and shaking head ect. Let me know what they say ok?
