Dog is lazy and drinking excessively and then puking it up

Question:
My Lab/Rott mix is a year and a half old and he is really lazy now and doesnt want to play. He drinks excessively and almost always throws it up a few minutes later. The vomit is strictly water and he will play a little if I provoke him but nowhere like he used to be, he is eating just fine though. Im worried, please help

Answer:
Lazy? Drinking excessively then puking is not a sign of laziness. Sounds more like there is something wrong with him. He needs a check up at the vet.

Answer:
I mean he is lazy compared to how he used to be not a month ago, very aloof is a better word.

Answer:
Answer is the same, time for a vet check and with speed.

Answer:
I took him to a vet and they said it could be his food since we recently changed it but since there is no food being puked up, they didnt really think that was it. They also said it could be a piece of his toy stuck in his stomach, but again, not probable. Should I go to a new vet or has anyone heard of this before.

Answer:
You OBVIOUSLY need to find the root. This is not normal at all. It sounds serious.

If the vet told you you need to do further testing, and x-rays and you have chosen not to, then no you may not NEED a new vet.

If the vet suggested nothing and sent you on your way then YES get a new vet ASAP.

In my opinion, this dog needs bloodwork and an x-ray at a minimum, regardless of the vet.

Do nothing and it sounds like the dog will get worse quickly.

Good luck

Answer:
Try and focus on when the dog is throwing up.

Is it just after drinking a lot of water or eating?
Is it just after exercise?

Feed smaller frequent amounts and restrict exercise for a 1/2 hr before and 1 hour after meals. Don't let the dog drink water during this time either.

Answer:
My dog displayed this same behavior and symptoms just before he was diagnosed with diabetes. Is the dog 7years or older? If so, have the vet test for diabetes. Nearly 1/2 of all dogs and cats die from diabetes or diabetes related illness.

Not true Marshon. I am sorry to hear about your dog, and diabetes is always a concern of mine too but 50% of all dogs and cats dying of this disease is way out of the limits.

My opinion..

Answer:
Well Karin, my vet's opinion was that 50% of dogs and cats actually do die of diabetes or diabetes related complications. Sorry...
