Hello I was wondering if anyone could help me out my basset hound is 6 months old and the past few days he's been gagging like he's trying to swallow but can't and he gets the hiccups a lot too. Please help me....

Go to the vet. My dog does the same thing and the only way to know for sure what it is, is to take x-rays! They could also take a blood sample.

If it's an off and on thing it can be reverse sneezing.
IF its more consistent and there seems to be mucous you should get to the vet. The dog may have kennel cough or another respiratory infection and needs meds pdq!

just to add to that - my little one was gagging this weekend - turned out it was a grass seed stuck in the soft pallet - take your puppy to the vets they will sort him out

I have a boxer puppy and he had the same thing. What i did was gave him a piece of bread and it will help push down whatever is there.
