My dog has mucous & sometimes bright blood in his stool which is sometimes runny sometimes formed. he goes outside then comes in to have a stool. His belly looks bloated. the vet said some parasites can do this but only gave him a dose of steroids. i am a nurse & i wonder if he dosent have irritable bowel...could I help by giving him different food I currently feed him Beneful dog food...I also have other pets, any suggestions.

I'm sorry - I'm confused...did you take a stool sample in to the vet to be checked for worms? What tests did your vet do to find out what the problem is?

As for food, Beneful is cheap low quality food and I would definitely change it.
