Neurological problem in small Jackie Russell mix
Question: I work with a rescue group in West Virginia. We have a small less than 10 lb, Jack Russell Mix that was shaken and suffered neurological disorder in the neck. She is about 8 lbs., and has regained some of her hearing loss. The problem I can't seem to paper train her. She will go an inch from her bed and then lay down to sleep. I've kenneled her, and have taken her out for a good 45 minutes in the park and as soon as she comes in she will pee or BM on the rug, couch, anywhere but her paper. She also doesn't seem to clean herself. I was wondering if this was a result of the neurological problem she may have suffered. She will sometimes go on the paper, or near the paper, but is not consistant. Its as if she doesn't know what to do. I've had many rescues and have never had this problem. Also, she drinks about a gallon of water a day. An excessive amount. Could this be a sign of diabetes? Thanks for your help. Answer: Some neurological and spinal problems can attibute to problems with urination and defecation. Poor dog!! Would benefit from a chiropractic treatment for sure IMHO! Answer: Is this a puppy mill dog? What does the vet say? A 10 lb dog who is drinking a gallon of water a day certainly has a problem, and would not be able to control urination. She needs a thorough examination. Answer: Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
