Cat peeing on anything in bathroom

Question:
My 3 year old male, neutered cat started peeing on things in the bathroom (where box is located) right after I bought a covered litter box. I removed the lid and things started to improve. That was about 3 months ago. We moved to a new house 1 month ago and he's started to pee in the bathroom again. I had put his litter in the basement so I assumed he didn't like it there. I moved it back in the bathroom but the problem still persists. I'm completely at my wits end with him. He's alone all day while I'm at work but I give him lots of attention when I return. I really don't know what to do anymore. Please give me any suggestions possible. I will try anything. I really don't want to get rid of him.
Thanks in advance.

Answer:
The first thing you need to do is have him checked by the vet. Neutered male cats are famous for getting crystals and/or stones in their bladders, and this can cause pain on urination which will make them avoid the litterbox.

Vet check first!

Answer:
yes, I agree. My cat went in the tub and was crying. I knew right away something was wrong and took him in right away. Crystals...sure enough.
Although I don't think this is your problem. Clean your bathroom really really well and try and get rid of ALL of the cat urine smells etc. Than put the same box back in there that he used before. Dont' forget to use the same litter he liked and clean the box with a little bleach and hot water. Now try seeing if he will use the box again. Don't forget to clean urine out EVERYTIME HE USES IT. I have gone into peoples homes and you can't see the litter for all of the feces and urine..IT'S DISCUSTING.
good luck keep us posted.
