Intermittent loss of appetite and vomiting
Question: Jack is 10 and is half Lab, half Cocker. All his life, until last year, he has been highly active and had a good appetite. For several months now, he has been on a cycle of good health followed by bouts of lost appetite and vomiting. Several trips to our very conscientious vet have produced bloodwork (periodic low white cell count) but little more. He's given Jack steroids on two occasions which brought his appetite and energy back. The last thing we tried was a commercial brand of dog food for animals with sensitive stomachs. Jack is losing about a pound a month as a result of his condition. Today, before becoming sick to his stomach again, he played ball willingly for several minutes. Temperatures are about 75 degrees Fahrenheit. We are very worried since we have to leave him for six weeks to take a long-scheduled trip. Answer: Has your vet done any other tests besides the bloodwork? Answer: Interesting Ask your vet if his pancreatic enzyme levels were within the normal range.
