Reverse Sneezing Syndrome
Question: My 7 year old male cat (neutered) was diagnosed with "reverse sneezing syndrome". I was wondering what that was. When he has an attack, he starts hacking and his nse starts to drip really bad. Sometimes he ends up so weak that he just sits for a while. I was also told that he had to have surgery which costs approx. $2000.00 that can only be done at a vet college. What can I do for him? I can't afford this surgery. Thank you. Answer: 2000$ for surgery for reverse sneezing? I was unaware that cats can have this problem, and I've never seen it. What exactly will be done in this surgery? My dog has attacks of this, and from what I understand, it's caused by spasms in the esophogus, much like our own hiccups. All I do when my dog starts is firmly massage her throat, or put my fingers over her nostrils for a few seconds. This works for me! I'm really confused, but I highly suggest you take your cat to another vet for a second opinion. Answer: I rushed my dog to the Vet emergency room because I thought that my dog swallowed something wrong and couldn't cough it up. Apparantly it was reverse sneezing according to the Vet. Reverse sneeze is like allergies in people and can be treated with Benadryl. Angela Answer: Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
