my cat's chipped tooth

Question:
My cat (Minerva) chipped the tip off of one of her top canine teeth yesterday. I wasn't sure what was wrong at first. She started acting really bizarre yesterday evening - frenzied behavior, acting scared, etc. I discovered the chipped tooth today. Would it account for her strange bahavior or is something else wrong? She is still eating and today is mostly back to her normal self (but sleeping a bit more than usual, but that might be because of all the activity last night). Is a vet visit in order? (Usually I would take her no matter what, but it's the weekend and since I moved, the only vet I trust is an hour away.) Also, in case she seems to be in more pain before the visit, is there anything I can do to ease it? Is there anything a vet can do for her besides pulling it?

Answer:
I was just looking around, and found this link that had some info you might find helpful. Sounds like a vet will have to have a look. Don't give any people pain killer's though, which you probably already know to not do. Poor kitty, sounds like she was quite shaken up last night, I wonder what happened?

Answer:
That was really helpful, thanks! I have more hope that it won't get pulled now; Minerva's canine are rather large to begin with and the break was no where near the root. It will probably have to get sanded down because it's probably irritating her mouth. I still have no idea how she could have broken it. She's strictly an indoors kitty and she never chews on anything.

Answer:
How's Minerva today? Do you have a vet appointment?

Answer:
You are welcome! She probably hit her head/tooth jumping from something, could have been as simple as miss judging a jump from a chair I suspect. Please let us know how she's doing/what the vet says!
