Blood in my cat's food
Question: Jenny is my 13 year old mixed cat. Up until a year ago, she was eating dry cat food. She had a couple of incidents of fur balls and vomiting once in awhile but nothing that was consistent. She was not eating like she used to a year ago and when she did vomit, it looked like the food was not being digested, I changed to Friskies in the can. She loved it and ate like there was no tomorrow with little or no vomiting. Within the last week, I have noticed that sometimes there is blood in the food dish on top of the left over food. Her appetite is still good and she moves around fine but the blood scares me. Any suggestions? Jenny hasn't been sick and her temperment hasn't changed at all since she was a kitten. Thank you. Answer: Please call her Vet asap. Answer: Any ideas as to what is wrong? Answer: Your cat could have anything from a stomach ulcer to cancer. Even if we knew what was wrong with her,(we don't)you would still have to take her to the vet for treatment. I hope you will do so ASAP, just as you would go immediately to the hospital if you were vomiting blood. Answer: Thanks for the advice. I was just asking so that I knew whether to call the vet tonight or tomorrow morning when they open. Again, thanks for all the help! Appreciate it. Answer: Please let us know what happens!
