Hello all new to this board & very concerned
Question: I am hoping for some "first-hand" info just in case I need to make a decision. Our dog is an 8 yr. old Golden Retriever named "Bruce" - vet did a "wellness blood panel" and all looks good/normal EXCEPT his thyroid - level is "high" at 4.75 vet examined him and found a mass in his throat and has referred him for an ultrasound with a vet oncologist - to be done this Thursday. IF - repeat IF - it is a malignant tumor I feel I'd like to try an alternative therapy rather than a chemo/radiation and heard about something called "Neoplasene" that could be injected - heard it is now being used all over the world by thousands of vets. I just don't want to put my beloved dog through treatments that would make him suffer bad side effects only to see him die anyway. Bruce is good in all other respects - eats well does seem to pant alot though and drink alot of water. I am sick over the possibility of this and am hoping someone "out there" has used this substance on their dogs - hopefully, with success. Thank you so much. Answer: Don't get too ahead of yourself. A mass in his throat and hyperthyroid could very well be a goiter (enlarged thyroid gland). The thyroid enlarges for a number of reasons. I'm not sure how long he has had this problem, but with removal of the thyroid gland and daily thyroid replacement medication (very inexpensive) he can still live a normal life. I hope that it comes back with good news. Do as much research as you can, but don't worry about the details until you know what you are facing. I am hoping for the best for you and your sweet boy. Answer: Please keep us posted with the results Answer: Good luck and i hope its nothing too serious...... Maxine Answer: Also do not rule out chemo, it is no where near as bad on dogs and it is on humans good luck Answer: Just curious if you started the neoplasene? I'm also new to this forum. My 7-8 yr old Lab was just diagnosed with Oral Osteosarcoma and its pretty large. On the jaw bone. We have the options of removal of the lower jaw bone, radiation and or chemo but the odds are against any prolonged quality of life so rather then spend thousands of dollars making her misearble, we decided to try the neoplasene to reduce/remove the tumor. First treatment was today. Answer: Originally Posted by ZOEYMOM Just curious if you started the neoplasene? I'm also new to this forum.
