Cat Abscess...help

Question:
My cat had an absest and it just burst all over my house...what should i do....im broke....HELP!!!!

Answer:
Broke or not, your cat HAS to see a vet, arrange some sort of payment-plan unless you are prepared to watch him/her die.
Most vets would not turn back a seriously hurt animal.

Answer:
Hi I actually had to deal with this myself this week with my cat. She had an absest in her mouth/chin, you must find anyway possible to take care of this and take your cat to the vet. We had only 100 to our name when it first came and spent that on an appointment. So I pawned a couple items to come up with $350 and that was enough to have them drain the absest, keep her over night and the atibiotics. YOU MUST FIND ANYWAY POSSIBLE TO GET THE MONEY. Or if you have ok credit for at least a year you can get a medicare Card, it's kinda like a pet health credit card. MEDICARE. Try it, Try anything!!!!

Piper had the same thing hapen to him. Really gross isn't it. Mad my husband barf. I cleaned it up and put perxiode on it. it really makes a big hole but this is good. It causes the wound to drain. Keep it clean. After I treated Piper I took him to the vet. He said I had done the right thing and just to keep an eye on it. He said I would only need antibiotics if the infection got worse. Good thing Piper is a healthy cat. He healed up in a few days and where the hole was, it healed nice. No scar and the hair has grown back. Pipers abcess was caused by a another cat. It bite him. I know not everyone can afford a vet. i know when things were good for me my animals had the best of vet care. When I got sick and lost everything, and I mean everything, house, car you name it, the only thing I had left was my dogs. They still got the best I could afford at the time, but it was hard. I made sure they had good food and care, sometimes at a price. We didn't eat so good for a few months. Good thing our lives are back on track now. And I have a vet, who takes your finances into account. Good luck with your cat, let us know how you made out.

Answer:
Look at it this way---your cat really should have been seen by the vet before this thing drained itself. However, it HAS drained itself, so there's one vet fee you won't have scrape up the $ for. This kitty needs antibiotics--it is at risk for the infection getting into the bone or bloodstream, and from there, anywhere. It will only become harder to treat and you could lose your kitty. Most antibiotics are not very expensive at all, but you need to see the vet to make sure you get the right kind. He may also have you use a solution to clean the area, like dilute hydrogen peroxide or sodium perborate (both available OTC), but these can also harm the new tissue that will form once the antibiotic clears up the infection. Follow the vets instructions. The moral of the story--you need to see the vet for this one.
