Puppy is hacking

Question:
I just bought a 2-3 month old Husky. And over the last couple days he has begun to hack, but nothing comes up. It's like a hack, hack, hack, hack, haaaaacccckkkk. After he completes the cycle he seems fine, he doesnt whine or act as if anything is wrong. He also has a runny nose. He is scheduled for his first visit to the vet on friday, is this just a simple cold. We live in Seoul, South Korea, the second most polluted city in the world, so that might have something to do with it. Any help would be much appreciated.

Answer:
It could be Kennel Cough. Why don't you call your vet and explain what is going on and maybe they'll take you in earlier. They may decide to treat him before starting his vaccinations. Let the vet determine it .

Answer:
We rescued a dog that is 1 year old we were told, not sure she really is, though almost I think. Anyway, she came down with that same cough, gag. Took about 3 or 4 days to get to where I was thinking this isnt allergies. Took her to the vet and he put her on a pill. Well, I tryed everytthing for her to take this stupid pill and she wouldnt take it. LOL, I"m smarter then she is. She loves canned cat food, so I put the pill in 1 teaspoon full, thats all she got, but she took it. I'd try taking your dog in sooner as it can get really bad. I'm sure the meds will help, ours started feeling much better in about 3 days and its only been 1 week and her cough is gone. Good luck !

Answer:
Hey there. My puppy has been hacking for about 3 weeks now, despite about a billion needles and some inhaling treatment, and all sorts of stuff. He doesn't have distemper (confirmed with a test) and like your puppy he isn't that sick. I have a hunch that he would get better if we weren't in this city -- not only the pollution but the extreme high humidity, as it is the monsoon season here now. Do you feel like he coughs more on a day like today than on a less humid day? I feel that way about my baby poodle, but am not sure if I'm imagining it. Anyway, I hope all goes well with the vet. If the coughing seems serious, they won't want to give him his immunization shots. And if that's the case, please be very careful when you take him outside as there are a lot of unimmunized dogs in this city, and he could easily get something terrible like distemper. Let us know how it goes.
